Found punctuation: umlipses

I came across this and decided I have to post it.  So someone on the internet came up with something called the umlipses, it’s basically an extended umlaut that sits above a vowel and indicates that the vowel sound should be stretched out.  As the author puts it, “like when people say, “duuuuuuude!”, except represented as a single character.”  Not the worst idea, right?

But here’s where it gets interesting.  I decided to look around the site where I found this to see who came up with the umlipses.  The website looks like it was made in 1996 and hasn’t changed since then.  There are animated GIF files of kittens.  There are also lolcats.  There are badly referenced internet memes.  I started skimming some of the other posts and I realized this was a site for furries.  Yes, those furries.
